In order to function properly, our bodies need a proper cleanse every now and then. There are plenty of options to pick from when choosing a detox method, but if we’re being honest, rarely any of them works. Fruit cleanses or juicing are ineffective as fruits contain quite a bit of sugar which can add up, while other detox methods are just plain wrong. Luckily, there is a way of cleaning your body of all the toxins and chemicals without harming your overall health.

The method we’re talking about is the soup cleanse. Soups have always been the best way of providing your body with essential nutrients, and can keep your energy levels up. Furthermore, soups are pretty easy on your digestive system and can be easily processed. Soups are clean meals that can detoxify every one of your organs and tissues and flood the body with nutrients as well. By eliminating the toxins and waste, the soups will resolve a variety of problems in your body. A soup cleanse can reduce inflammation, prevent a variety of ailments, improve the quality of your skin and keep your energy levels up.

How to perform a soup cleanse

Soup cleanses ideally last for 3 days. You should eat 5-6 bowls of soup per day in order to keep your health in check. In general, the base of the soup can be either a vegetable or bone broth, and you can use almost any healthy vegetable you can think of. Spices and herbs are allowed in the soups as well – they will provide the flavor and offer a variety of health benefits as well. During a soup cleanse, you should also make sure to stay hydrated – drinking plenty of water will keep the fluids in your body in balance and improve the waste elimination process.

Experts recommend starting with a bone, vegetable or miso broth, then adding vegetables such as sweet potato, plantain, butternut or acorn squash, beets or parsnips. You’re also allowed to use turmeric, ginger, cumin, sea salt, black pepper, garlic and cinnamon as well as coconut or avocado oil, ghee and avocado oil. Blend all the ingredients away and you’ll get a nice soup which will clean your body of toxins and boost your overall health.
