A few years ago, many health organizations issue a warning in regard to the cholesterol content of eggs. It was believed that just like coconut oil or avocado, eggs are likely to negatively affect people`s health. An average egg contains 180-186 mg. of cholesterol while the liver produces 1000-2000 mg. of cholesterol on a daily basis.

Contrary to popular belief, the consumption of eggs doesn’t raise the cholesterol levels but it just replaces one type of cholesterol with another.  Therefore, when you eat cholesterol rich foods, the liver adjusts its production.

HERE IS WHY YOU SHOULD EAT EGGS REGULARLY

  1. Cholesterol

Eggs contain good cholesterol, medically known as HDL cholesterol. It is not detrimental and it helps produce more vitamin D and hormones like cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone.

Unlike bad cholesterol, known as LDL cholesterol, HDL doesn’t stick to the walls of blood vessels. To the contrary, it cleans them and prevents diseases like atherosclerosis. Therefore, it doesn’t increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and it lowers bad cholesterol levels.

However, this doesn’t go for diabetics, as regular consumption of eggs can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases in people suffering from diabetes.

To maintain proper balance of cholesterol in the body, eat a healthy diet, avoid sugar, and exercise on a regular basis.

  1. Choline

Eggs are an excellent source of choline, a nutrient which improves memory and stimulates brain development.  It is actually a precursor to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter which is very important for pregnant women. They are highly recommended to take it in order to protect their unborn babies from development abnormalities. Up to 90 percent of all Americans are deficient in chlorine, meaning that they are exposed to non-alcoholic liver fatty tissue and muscle damage.

  1. Nutrients

Eggs are abundant in thiamin, folate, riboflavin, phosphorus, selenium, magnesium, iron, vitamin A, B6, E and other nutrients.

  1. Promote Weight Loss

As mentioned above, eggs are rich in nutrients and are more filling than other foods. Plus, they are low in calories, which makes them ideal for weight loss. According to the studies published in Journal of the American College of Nutrition and the International Journal of Obesity, the consumption of eggs for breakfast reduces the amount of food you eat during the day which results in reduced body fat and weight loss.

  1. Keeps Your Eyes Sharp

Eggs can improve your eyesight due to the lutein and zeaxanthin, two powerful carotenoids they contain. They protect the eyes from sunlight, reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration, and reduce the risk of cataract by 50 percent.

  1. Feed Your Bones

Alongside other nutrients, eggs contain calcium and vitamin D, both of which are extremely important for bone development and strength.  Calcium is needed for proper blood clotting, muscle contractions and nerve signals while vitamin D improves body`s absorption of calcium.

  1. Feed Your Muscles

The protein content in only 2 eggs equal the amount of protein from one serving of meat, without exposing yourself to acidity and fat of meat. Even though most diets use only the egg white, this is wrong as half of the protein is found in the yolk.

To sum up, contrary to the claims of health organizations, eggs are not bad for you. They will actually make you healthier and the  consumption of 2-3 eggs daily is the best way to stay healthy!
